Reporting Illness/COVID: Who to Notify and When HR Needs to Be Involved

If you are ill or test positive for COVID (or another communicable illness), notify the appropriate parties while protecting your privacy.

Who to notify

• Your manager/supervisor: for scheduling and coverage
• Site leadership: if required by local workplace guidance

When HR should be involved

• If you need a leave of absence beyond PTO
• If you need an accommodation or return-to-work restrictions
• If there is a workplace exposure management process that HR coordinates (site-specific)
